We stayed in Amsterdam for 5 nights in June 2011, en route to a River Cruise from Amsterdam to Vienna. SIngel 96 was in a great location, being on the Singel Canal on the western edge of the central city block and close to Central Station, our point of arrival after catching a train from Schipol Airport.
The apartment was close to Tram lines, but we found that most of the time we walked everywhere in Amsterdam from the apartment. We even walked to embark on our River Cruise to Vienna, as the pier was just on the other side of Central Station.
The June evenings in Amsterdam were wonderful and we enjoyed walking amongst the canals in the evenings around the apartment. SIngel 96 is also a short walk from the Jiordan area which is one of the prettiest and well kept canal areas and has a wealth of restaurants and bars.
Singel 96 has 2 bedrooms, which enabled our Dutch relatives to stay with us while we were visiting Europe from Australia.
The bathroom was huge and modern and the apartment also had full kitchen facilities, a washing machine and dryer , all of which were essential for our long stay in Europe.
Carolina was a wonderful host with lots of friendly advice and tourist information handy for Amsterdam.
Overall the apartment was very spacious. The only suggestion for improvement is that we needed more hanging space for the formal wear that we required for the cruise. Also, we are in our 50's and had no trouble with the stairs leading from the front door, but we think that some elderly people may find the stairs at the front door a little difficult.
All in all, Carolina was a great host and we had a wonderful time and would certainly stay at Singel 96 the next time we visit Amsterdam.

Hello Carolina,
Thank you to you and your family for accommodating us during this week. We had a good night sleep on your comfy bed and relaxing bath and shower in the family size bathroom. It was a nice surprise to learn that a washing machine and dryer were provided as this allowed us to travel lightly. A big thank you for going out of your way and recommending to us au pair, Luna. By joining us everyday and looking after our boys in the evening allowed us to have a grown up time and for example complete viewing the exhibitions or have a night out. Milosz and Miro enjoy that extra attention they received. We will be looking to visit Amsterdam again in few months time and hope to stay with you again. Being extremely pleased with the apartment and Carolina, motivated us to write our first review. We researched extensively prior to choosing Singel 96 ; worried about getting caught with an apartment that did not match up with the advertisement - we need not have worried. It was fantastic. Location, Location. Well, it is right in the heart of Amsterdam: how more central can you get. Everything is within walking distance / tram. The apartment contains a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom/lounge room. The kitchen is compact, but adequate : the bathroom is large containing a good sized shower, bath, toilet, bidet and two basins. The bed is two king singles joined - very comfortable. The lounge room is spacious with a table(4 chairs) and a sofa suite.There are two deck chairs supplied to sit outside beside the canal to enjoy the atmosphere. A washing machine and dryer are also supplied. Flowers added to the kitchen and lounge tables were a nice touch. Wireless internet supplied free. What was also appreciated was Carolina's advice on local issues and sights etc. Being reticent to give a perfect score of 10 , as nothing is perfect , our score is 9.9. We really enjoyed staying with you Carolina and if we come back to Amsterdam, we have your number.

Notre séjour au Singel 96 est un très bon souvenir. L'accueil par Carolina est excellent et en plus elle parle le Français, le top !!
Nous recommandons vivement ce logement qui est très bien situé, très bien décoré, spacieux et où il fait bon y séjourner.

We hadden afgelopen weekend een bruiloft in hartje Amsterdam. De Singel was voor ons een prima uitvalsbasis. Faciliteiten goed, dichtbij het centrum in de Jordaan. Gewoon gezellig en alles prima geregeld door Carolina. Bedankt daarvoor en wellicht tot ziens.

Venons de passer une fin de semaine en cet automne 2010 dans cet endroit charmant et bien placé. Tout le monde le dit, nous confirmons c'est un super plan pour Amsterdam ! Les francophones apprécieront en plus le fait que notre hôtesse parle trés bien notre langue ce qui ne gâche rien. Bref à recommander chaudement !

Hi everyone, what lovely folk to rent from! And a superb apartment, light and spacious. The queen size (or king?) bed was deliciously comfortable with fine cotton linen, and the fresh flowers were a delight. Coffee and t-bags, milk etc more than welcome. (Back doorway to inside owner's apartment is of no consequence as covered by heavy curtain and locked.) Plenty of hot water, spotless and just so close walking to everywhere! Hola Carolina y familia!! Muchas gracias por hacer que nuestra estancia en Amsterdam haya sido realmente especial. El apartamento es perfecto. La ubicación es inmejorable, tranquila y muy céntrica, a un paso de todos los sitios de interés, y en la zona de Amsterdam que más nos gusta, junto al Jordaan, rodeado de cafés y restaurante muy buenos. Está muy bien equipado, en la cocina encuentras todo cuanto puedas necesitar. Y el baño es perfecto, queremos uno igual en nuestra casa!. Descansamos muy bien en la cama, y disfrutamos mucho de las vistas del canal. También queríamos daros las gracias por todas las cosas que nos prestasteis para Jorge, la cuna, la trona, los juguetes de Willen (Jorge disfrutó mucho, se sintió como en casa). Y por último daros las gracias también por vuestra ayuda y consejos. Este apartamento es la casa que todos deseariamos tener en Amsterdam! Perfecto para parejas y familias con bebes. Volveremos seguro Carolina, nos vemos pronto, seguro, en esta visita se nos quedaron cosas pendientes que tendremos que hacer. Nos vemos pronto, besos desde España y Gracias!!!

From 12 July 2010 we stayed for a week in this very good flexible accomodation and enjoyed a very relaxing stress free holiday. Singel 96 is based in an excellent area within easy walk of wonderful restaurants and all areas. Visiting Single 96 for the first time on a short business trip - but fell in love with the apartment. So much character and warmth. the personal touches that made it feel so homely. The quaint little front door - I smiled every time we had to use it - I loved it! The central location gave us the option to go into beautiful streets for cafe's, restaurants and walks, peaceful and romantic - but also walk in the opposite direction to discover a more lively area & the 'red light district' which was definitely interesting to walk through! Gorgeous local markets and such friendly people. We were here on business and unfortunately had to leave early due to the 'Ash Cloud' and flight disruption but we will definitely be booking to come back for a personal holiday, as the apartment was just perfect. Carolina - your hospitality was wonderful, so helpful in every little detail. No wonder so many people want to visit you. Thank you again so much for a wonderful stay. Petit appartement très sympa et très confortable situé à deux pas de la gare centrale le long d'un canal très paisible et très pittoresque. Une salle de bain hollywoodienne et un lit fantastique qui ne laisse à votre dos aucun mauvais souvenir au réveil (à ne pas négliger surtout après avoir arpenté les rues et canaux d'Amsterdam de long en large toute une journée!!) Carolina, la proprio, nous a réservé un accueil super chaleureux à l'arrivée et nous a fourni un tas d'informations et de conseils bien utiles. Nous avons passé un séjour inoubliale et n'hésitons pas une minute à recommender ce super appartement à tous ceux qui souhaiteraient venir passer quelques jours à Amsterdam. Hi! I had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful, quaint B&B about two weeks ago, for one night. The owners are friends of mine, so it was an extra-special visit. I loved being there and having such a special room all to myself! It is spacious, very comfortable, and there is a pc I could use. There is also a spacious bathroom with all you need, including a kitchen with all appliances you need to cook for yourself may you decide to stay in. The place is very stylishly decorated and has an intalian hint to it. If you are looking for a B&B which is near central station, has parking available outside your door and is near the Jordan (I recommend going through the 9 Streets for the variety of Amsterdam boutiques), then I highly recommend this place. You will find it a peaceful place in the heart of the city!

Hi Carolina and Ernst, Thank you so much for 6 days in your beautiful flat. Even for norwegians, Amsterdam was very cold this time of year. However, walking the streets of your special and interessting city for hours, there's always a warm bar or restaurant around the corner... We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy, homely apartment with Carolina and Ernst as great hosts. Ideal location for the railway station, shops, Dam square and many other attractions. If you are looking to stay in a quieter area of the town then this is perfect. We shall definitely be returning!

I have been to Amsterdam more than half a dozen times and out of all the places I have stayed this is by far the absolute best. My wife and I will only be staying with Carolina on all of our return trips. Not only is the place quite large but it is comfortable, has a private entrance and beautiful bathtub (which was used extensively) and could not be better located. A truly awesome place to stay and I could not recommend it more.

Wir haben uns in dieser Unterkunft sehr wohl gefühlt, vor allem durch die guten Tipps von Carolina. Die Lage ist sehr zentral und die Umgebung ruhig und sehr idyllisch. We think it is fair to say that this stay was as close as it gets to experiencing "living in the heart of Amsterdam".Our stay at Singel 96 was pleasant from the beginning, starting with a warm welcome and little tour by the very polite hostess.The truly unique location (right at the canal, close to all main attractions, public transportation, close to Central Station and in a real and grotesque "grachtenpand") in combination with all the comfort the apartment offers made this stay a real pleasure:
The large living-/bedroom is clean and well furnished
There is a wide range of up-to-date brochures for all must-see's, must-go's and must-eat's
The apartment has free wifi
The bed is of the type you wish you had at home... big, clean and soft (one side a bit harder, especially for the male)
The bathroom is a ballroom with a bathtub that can easily fit 2 people (tested and okayed!)
The kitchen offers everything you need to cook for a small dinner party (unfortunately we only used it for morning tea)
Double curtains block the light and muffle the sounds of the street perfectly (we slept like a baby)
The hostess and her husband are kind and had answers to all our questions.
This might sound like picture perfect, but we really had nothing to complain about... We look forward to returning to Singel 96!

We stayed at Singel 96 for a weekend in October. The location is exceptional (about the best spot you can be in, as far as I'm concerned) and the owners are likewise exceptionally nice people who have great tips on what to do in the city.
Accomodation is tasteful and there's plenty of room.

We hebben samen met onze dochters genoten van een aantal dagen bij jullie op de Singel. En ook wij hebben jullie prettige flexibiliteit ervaren.
De tips over eetadresjes en het meedenken m.b.t. de marathon waren welkom.
Wat wij misten waren wat pannetjes om in te koken, en omdat wij met z'n vieren waren hebben wij ook goed kennis kunnen maken met het "lekje" bij de douchecabine.
Maaaaar dat mocht de pret niet drukken wij hebben het erg leuk gehad in een hele leuke sfeer. Wie weet tot ziens.

Nogmaals enorm bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid en flexibiliteit op 3 oktober jl. Het was voor mij i.i.g. een onvergetelijke avond, nacht en ochtend bij jullie in A'dam.
Jullie appartement is echt geweldig en van alle gemakken voorzien. Vooral de aparte ingang is ideeal... Nu alleen nog het kleine lek in de douche fixen Wink en het is perfect... Je aanrader (ontbijtje/lunch op de Herengracht) was inderdaad top!!!

My experience at Singel 96 was good. The location is very close to downtown Amsterdam and many main tourist areas are within 5 minutes walk.
A nice Dutch couple operates the bed and breakfast. The room is very big compared to most European hotel rooms. The bathroom is almost very big and has a great shower and bath for relaxing after long days of walking around Amsterdam.
I recommend Singel 96 to experienced tourists looking for a good deal.
